Flagler has strong showing at AAU States
Flagler Wrestling Club finshes 2nd as a team at AAU States with three State Champions. Evyn Insalaco (126), Alfred Shavers (138), Kaz Maia (145) all of these wrestlers won the Varsity Division. Also placing in the Varsity Divsion were Avery Holder (106) 4th and Jake Trivett (160) 3rd. Scoring points were Zac Branning (106), Tariq Johnson (138), Justin MCall (145), Eric Rosso (152), Micah Slicer (170), Justin Haaf (220), Vincent Ebanks (285) and Jake Dempsey (285). In the Junior Varsity Divison Trace Insalaco (106) 5th, Brady Quint (120) 2nd, Camarre Shavers (126) 2nd, Steve Canidate (160) 2nd, In the Kids Division Jordan Mills (65) 4th, Tyson Mills (80) 3rd, Jackson Mills (95) 3rd and Ty Carson (180) 3rd.
Flagler All-Americans at Disney Duals
Flagler Wrestling competed at the 2014 Disney Duals in the Community 1 Divison. Flagler finshed 2nd in a very strong pool with a 6-1 record defeating three state placers in their respective states Tennesse, Ohio and Florida. This enabled Flagler to wrestle in the All-American bracket. Flagler went 3-2 finshing in 7th place giving the team All-American Honors. The team finshed with an impressive 9-3 record Losing only to the second, third and fourth place teams. They also beat the 6th place team in the first round of the bracket. Along with the team earning AA honors, Flagler also had 4 wrestlers named indvidual All-Americans, Evyn Insalaco (120), MIke DeAugustino (126), Justin Boyle (160) and Jake Dempsey (285).
Flagler earns 12 News Journal All-Area selections
The Flagler wrestling team capped off a great 2013-2014 year with well deserved honors. Jake Kosachiner was named the wrestler of the year for the area for his 3rd place finish in the 113 lb. weight class at the FHSAA 3A state tournament. Coach Tom Bartolotta was named the Area's Coach of the Year for leading the young bulldog team to a conference and district title. The Bulldogs also had 6 first team members Jake Kosachiner (113), Alfred Shavers (120), Evyn Insalaco (126), Kaz Maia (132), Eric Rosso (138), Jake Trivett (152), Justin Boyle (160). The Bullodogs had 3 wrestlers earn 2nd team Zac Branning (106), Kory Bryl (145), Jonathon Muniz (195) and two honarable mentions
